Best of 2009 Wedding Photographs

Posted on December 31, 2009

As 2009 comes to an end, we began to think of some of our most memorable wedding moments and thought that we would highlight them for you. I broke down the “best of ’09″ into four groups. The “best pictures of ’09″, “most memorable moments of ’09 (meaning the funniest)”. “best tear shots of ’09″, and “the best ring shots of ’09″.

First, I will start off with the best pictures of ’09.

“Best Pictures of ’09″

This is my favorite shot of ’09! We shot this wedding at the Central Terminal in one of the upstairs rooms. I was a kid in a candy store when I shot this wedding in the Terminal and it  is definitely a wedding I will always remember.

Number 2. I loved this shot because of the clouds. Believe it or not, this isn’t photoshopped at ALL! I also loved where we took this picture. The house that the girls got ready in, isn’t far from my house and when I bike ride over the summer I pass by this place and always wanted to shoot there. Not to mention that Erin is a gorgeous young woman and it was so easy to photograph her.

Number 3. Here is what we do best. True photojournalism.  There’s something about this shot that I just love and after many times looking at it, I still can’t put my finger on it. I just love it!

Number 4.This shot was recently taken at a winter wedding we did on the 19th of December. Renee made for a beautiful bride, and I think this picture shows how beautiful her eyes are.

Number 5. When we did this trash the dress session back in July, we had a lot of fun. This shot that I chose, out of at least 300 pictures, was because of the angle it was taken  from. I used a step stool to get a higher view of the area. It was a bit of a slippery surface but I managed to get the shot I wanted without falling.

Number 6. I loved this shot of the groom and groomsmen. They wanted to do something different and I think that’s exactly what they got! It was great working with this crew and you will see if you take a scroll down, the goofiness didn’t stop with this photo. It really made for a great wedding and great shots.

Number 7. This shot had to make the top 10 because not only was it one of the craziest reception weddings we had done, I love the air shot and their faces.

Number 8. This wedding took place outside of a bed and breakfast and the whole day it looked like it was going to rain. It didn’t until the reception began, but the unsettling weather I thought made for some great shots. What I love most about this shot are the hot pink shoes. Classic!

Number 9.  This shot had to make the top ten because not only did Matt and Ashley make for a beautiful couple, the fall wedding that they had made for some wonderful shots. I think their wedding and the others we did this past fall, demonstrate how beautiful Buffalo really is in the fall.

Number 10. Oh how I love this shot! I had to put it into the top ten because I love how you can see the hairspray come out of the can onto the hair. I have tried many times since then to get the same shot, but haven’t gotten it to look just like this one. (And I love how the bridesmaid has that  ” all about business” look on.)

That’s our top ten picks, below you will find the rest of the best! I hope you enjoy looking at these pictures as much as we had taking them!

“Most Memorable Moments of ’09 (the funniest/cutest)”

The Top 5 Most Memorable Moments of ’09

I chose this photo as the number one most memorable shot because the groomsmen that is holding the bride’s feet had put them in his mouth jokingly. Then, he looked at me with the face that you see in the picture. It was classic and just flat out a hilarious moment!

Number 2. What I love most about this shot is the face that the groom is making during the vows. Never in my years of doing wedding photography have I seen a groom, or bride for that matter, make such a goofy face during the ceremony. I just loved it! I think it really shows how relaxed the couple are with each other and how on that day they married their best friend. The one that will always make them laugh. I think laughter is the key to happiness and this couple surely have that!

Number 3. This is another picture that I chose that has a back story as to why I had to put it into the top 5. During the toast, the sisters of the bride were telling a story of how one time the groom had made mention of trying to milk a cat. It was just so hilarious and  definitely a wedding toast that goes into my top 5.

Number 4. This shot was taken during the photo session at a wedding I did back in July. I had the girls lined up to take a shot and someone must of made a joke and the two bridesmaids just couldn’t contain their laughter. I jumped over from where I was and snapped this shot of the two girls. It’s  shots like this one that makes me love what I do.

Number 5.

That’s my Top 5 for most memorable moments of ’09. Below is the rest of the best, so take a glance at all the laughable moments that were captured.

“Best Tear Shots of ’09″

Posted on December 31, 2009

Below you will find my most memorable tear shots of ’09. It’s interesting how the shots that I chose either happened during the ceremony or at the reception during the formal dances.

“Best Ring Shots of ’09″

Posted on December 31, 2009

I always find myself trying out new situations for the ring shot and I think the selection that I chose as my “best of” demonstrates the uniqueness of each wedding I shoot. At the end you will also find a few of my favorite inanimate object shots because I couldn’t pass up on not putting them somewhere in my “best of ’09″.

Lacey’s Trash the Dress session

Posted on December 29, 2009

For this photo shoot I (Melissa) ventured down to Chautauqua to meet up with Jay and Lacey for their Trash the Dress session. They picked such an amazing place to do this shoot, just wow! There was a bit of a hike to get down to the gorge but it was well worth it once we were there. Lacey was so great to work with, not afraid to get into any position and always willing to try new things. I had such a blast getting in the water with her to get those close up shots of the water flowing down the stream. Below are my favorites of the session. Before I knew it I had taken over 3oo pictures, I narrowed it down to my favorites  so everyone can get a feel for the shoot that took place. (This shoot is def. on the top of my list of best trash the dress sessions, thanks Jay & Lacey!!)

What a great day! What a great couple. Today I had the pleasure of taking part in capturing the love between two wonderful people. John & Corin allowed me to take some engagement pictures of them at Corin’s Grandmother’s home in North Collins, N.Y. It was a beautiful home so comforting to be in. We took all of the pictures in and around the outside of the house. Here is a sample. P.S. be careful when driving down the hill on School St. It is a favorite radar spot. Thanks for the warning John :)

Paul & Renee: buffalo wedding photography

Posted on December 29, 2009

We are always honored to be able to attend and photograph one of our country’s brave service members weddings.  Paul is currently serving at Fort Brag and is scheduled to deploy soon. It was such a pleasure to be a part of this beautiful wedding day. Renee looked so beautiful. The whole wedding party was just stunning right down to the little flower girl & ring bearer. Melissa always looks for the expression in the grooms face when he first sees his new bride walking down the aisle. She was not disappointing at all by Paul’s reaction. Below is a sample of the days events.

May God bless all who serve our country and keep them safe.cav flag

Military Brides

Posted on December 13, 2009

While the C-5 was turning over its engines, a female crewman gave the GIs on board the usual information regarding seat belts, emergency exits, etc.

Finally, she said, ‘Now sit back and enjoy your trip while your captain,  Smith, and crew take you safely to Afghanistan ‘

An old MSgt. sitting in the eighth row thought to himself,
‘Did I hear her right? Is the captain a woman? ‘

When the attendant came by he said
‘Did I understand you right? Is the captain a woman?’
‘Yes,’! said the attendant, ‘In fact, this entire crew is female.’

‘My God,’ he said, ‘I wish I had two double scotch and sodas. I don’t know what to think with only women up there in the cockpit.’

‘That’s another thing, Sergeant,’ said the crew member,
‘We No Longer Call It The Cockpit’

‘It’s The Box Office.

Colleen Sullivan Senior Pictures

Posted on December 2, 2009

Well it is that time of year again for Senior Pictures.  Below are some recent images of some wonderful people. I love shooting these, so much fun and such great young adults to work with. Every year I try to do something different so the pictures do not all look alike. Family’s that have 2 or more children usually want different looks for each session. Here is a brief look of whats coming up for 2010. Also do not forget to call me if you would like to be a class representative for your school.  Special discounts will apply for you.

This picture of Colleen is my favorite. The image of the young man is her Grandfather during the war. She has it tattooed on her right arm as you will see in some of her pictures (very cool Colleen). Enjoy

Here it is.

Another great shot of her.  Do not mess with the Sullivans :)

This one I know she will like.
